Competition season is well underway and IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) started the year with events all over the country that showcased how much Jiujiteiras have been growing and advancing technically in the sport. Attendees of the Austin Winter International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship and Dallas International Open had the opportunity to see some real talent on the mats, particularly from the women’s division. In Austin, Sarah Galvão, daughter of Professors André and Angelica Galvão of Atos Jiu-Jitsu, ranked first in both the juvenile blue-belt and in juvenile open class heavy female division. Mona Bailey, representing Carlson Gracie Team, took first in the purple feather female, and second in the purple open class. Even the former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion and MMA athlete, Lauren Murphy, representing Renzo Gracie Houston, made an appearance and won gold on brown belt adult middle weight female, placing third in the open class. Congratulations to all the ladies who competed in Austin and Dallas! Good luck to those who plan to compete at IBJJF PAN coming up next month in Florida. Jiujiteira Magazine will be there covering all the action. Complete results: ibjjf
